It’s about words

Some told me I have a Chinese accent when I’m speaking Vietnamese while others say I sound like people from the North! Either way, it shows that my execution of the Vietnamese language isn’t that great. I still have problems understanding two other parties communication (which seems strange I know), but having a normal conversation I get on just fine… talking about fine… a person from a big teleco here just called me and man…I only understand half of what he said…hmm…. Houston, we have a problem!
On a trip to my village with my girlfriend last week, she had a lot of communication problems too. At home her family mainly speak Chinese so when I hang out with her family, I had problem talking to them. But the trip to my village was a payback! My family all speaks Khmer to each other. Actually, people there speak Khmer except when they go to the market (where most Vietnamese settles).
Hopefully with a bit more TV watching and overtime my comprehension of the language will improve.
